The 83rd Golden Globe Awards ceremony was held in California last night (Sunday January 11), with actors and filmmakers flocking to the Beverly Hilton hotel once more to celebrate the last year in entertainment. Hosted by Nikki Glaser for the second consecutive year, the 2026 Golden Globe Awards introduced the new Best Podcast category for the first time. Even so, the primary focus was still squarely on television and film.

One Battle After Another kicked off the night with the most bites at the apple, boasting a total of nine nominations including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Director (Paul Thomas Anderson). It ultimately took both awards, as well as Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture (Teyana Taylor) and Best Screenplay (Paul Thomas Anderson).

Also competing for Best Director were Sinners (Ryan Coogler) and Hamnet (Chloé Zhao), which followed One Battle After Another in nomination count with seven and six respectively. Both won two Golden Globes each, with Hamnet also taking Best Motion Picture — Drama.

NEED TO KNOW

  • Nikki Glaser hosted the 2026 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, Jan. 11
  • One Battle After Another and Hamnet won the top film prizes, while shows like Adolescence, The Studio and The Pitt took top TV honors
  • This year marked the addition of a new category, Best Podcast, which went to Good Hang with Amy Poehler

Comedian Nikki Glaser hosted the 83rd annual Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 11, which aired on CBS and Paramount+. She sparkled as bright as any Golden Globe trophy as she took the stage for her second turn at the helm of Hollywood’s most boisterous night. Hosting the 2026 ceremony, the stand-up veteran delivered exactly what the glitzy Beverly Hilton ballroom craved: a performance that was funny, flattering, and delightfully frivolous.

Glaser maintained a killer energy throughout the evening, though she saved her sharpest teeth for the big institutions rather than the A-list crowd. Instead of skewering the icons in their black-tie best, she aimed her barbs at the studios, the corporations, and even the Justice Department. It was precisely the brand of hard-hitting humor that the industry loves most—the kind that lets the stars off the hook with nothing but softballs.
