Céline Dion shares new videos for the soundtrack of “I Am: Céline Dion.”
Around twenty songs signed in American Sign Language (ASL) were uploaded Monday morning to Céline Dion’s YouTube channel. This new collection of videos corresponds to the soundtrack of the documentary “I Am: Céline Dion. The videos interpret the lyrics of Céline’s music, along with instrumental tracks by composer Redi Hasa, in ASL, featuring nods to Quebec Sign Language (LSQ)**.
Designed to create a new experience for both deaf and hearing audiences worldwide, the project showcases ASL artist Angela “AV” Vilavong and was developed in collaboration with Sony Music Canada and the documentary’s director, Irene Taylor. “I grew up using ASL in my family, and from a young age, I learned that music goes beyond sound. I hope the world can discover the music of Redi Hasa and Céline Dion in a new way, through the precious art of AV Vilavong,” the director emphasized.
“I am very touched to have the opportunity to share these incredible videos with you. It is important to me to find new ways to connect with one another in an open and inclusive manner,” Céline Dion added in a statement. “I hope these videos highlight the beauty of musical creation for everyone and fill your hearts with joy, love, and a rhythm that brings us all closer together,” she continued.
Celine Dion had previously expressed her gratitude towards Albanian composer Redi Hasa in a written statement on Facebook a few days before June 25, the release date of the documentary: I AM: CELINE DION
