Harrison Ford has unfortunately had to cancel his planned appearance as a presenter at the 2025 Oscars due to illness. A representative for the actor confirmed on Saturday, March 1, that Ford, 82, was diagnosed with shingles on Friday and subsequently withdrew from the ceremony scheduled for Sunday, March 2.

Ford, best known for his role as Indiana Jones, was last seen at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 23. He appeared at the event without his wife, Calista Flockhart, who was busy starring in a New York City production of Curse of the Starving Class by Sam Shepard.

During the SAG Awards, Ford became a part of a humorous moment when his Shrinking co-star, Jessica Williams, was giving a speech during the show’s iconic “I Am an Actor” segment. Ford was spotted in the background, casually snacking on a cracker, which caused laughter from the audience. Williams, who noticed the situation, jokingly said, “I told him to turn away! Don’t look!”

Ford has recently expressed how much he has appreciated the warm reception to Shrinking, the AppleTV+ series in which he stars. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Ford shared, “I didn’t know what it was going to be, but it turned out to be something very special for me.” He also mentioned how touched he has been by the connection he has with the show’s fans, saying, “They only wanna say that they enjoy it. They don’t want anything. They just wanna share their pleasure in what it is that we are doing.”

Despite Ford’s absence, the Oscars ceremony will still be star-studded. Other presenters already announced for the event include Selena Gomez, Joe Alwyn, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Oprah Winfrey, Sterling K. Brown, Ana de Armas, Ben Stiller, Nick Offerman, Goldie Hawn, as well as 2024 Oscar winners Robert Downey Jr., Cillian Murphy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Emma Stone.

Conan O’Brien is set to host the Oscars, which will air live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, March 2, at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and Hulu.
