Lusi Brace/ A Leading Advocate in Immigration Law
Since 2020, Lusi Brace has consistently ranked among Vaughan’s top three immigration lawyers, recognized by Three Best Rated for her exceptional dedication to clients and expertise in navigating complex legal matters. As the founder of Brace Law with offices in Vaughan and Oakville, Lusi brings extensive experience in Criminal Law, Family Law, Civil Litigation, and Real Estate Law, providing clients with compassionate and thorough legal support.
Known for her meticulous approach and commitment to access to justice, she has built a trusted reputation within the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
As a prominent lawyer in Vaughan, you’ve been recognized among the best in immigration law since 2020. What do you believe sets your practice apart in such a competitive field?
I think what sets my firm aside is the readiness and willingness to take the time and listen to each and every client’s needs and concerns. We have an excellent track record of retaining as the feedback from clients has always been that when they first speak to us, they feel that they are being heard rather than rushed into booking a consultation. When clients meet with the lawyers for a consultation, they do not feel that time is running out but rather are comfortable to share their concerns and have any questions they have answered so that they can make the right choice when they retain. Understandably each case is complicated as per its facts but we strive to tailor our service to each client’s particular needs and goals.
You’ve had a dynamic career working across several areas of law, including criminal, family, and real estate law. How do you balance these various legal specialties while maintaining such high standards for each?
started with practicing criminal law which equipped me with advancing my litigation and trial skills. Although criminal law in its daily practice can be informal, it has been so useful in shaping my professional skills and equipping me with the ability to litigate any matter in family or civil as long as I understand and abide by the Rules of that practice area. Once you become a skilled barrister, I feel that navigating through the work of a solicitor is not as challenging as it is a lot of precedent focused work. Being a barrister also teaches you how to be creative in dealing with litigation and hence that creativity becomes essential when dealing with immigration and/or real estate files. Being a general practitioner may have some disadvantages but the best advantage is that I am always busy and I always get to choose the cases I work on.
Your legal work emphasizes access to justice and supporting clients in vulnerable situations. Can you share how this mission influences your daily practice and approach to client relations?
My team and I have excellent capability in being compassionate and great listeners and we have mastered the ability to understand that for clients in vulnerable situations, their matter is tied to their livelihood, safety and/or dignity. We take it upon ourselves to create a safe, trusting space where the clients feel they are being heard. It is in that space, we find that clients confide in us about their legal struggles and truly feel understood and heard which is essential in building their rapport with them and creating a tailored representation of their case. Moreover, vulnerable clients sometimes do not have the background to understand the complex language or the procedural rules and hence we always simplify those rules and concepts without losing the integrity of the information so that they feel empowered and understand the legal concepts. In return they feel more confident and less overwhelmed when it comes to dealing and understanding their legal matters and potential outcomes.
Building Success Stories Within the Albanian Community
You’ve been actively involved with the Albanian community in Canada. How has this connection shaped your work and vision at Brace Law, particularly in supporting newcomers and immigrant families?
My involvement in the Albanian community is two-fold. One is the desire to extend my services and act as a vessel of education and great representation of my own community members who entrust me with their legal matters. Second, the ability to offer the solution to their legal troubles or struggles. The positive feedback of that involvement has led to community members being referred to my services and achieving the desired success for them whether they are immigrant families or newcomers.
