Toronto Among the Pages of Albanian Literature: A Festival That United the Diaspora
For the first time, Toronto hosted a Book Festival entirely dedicated to Albanian literature. Organized by the Albanian Canadian Development Alternative (ACDA), this special initiative brought together hundreds of Albanians from across the diaspora, transforming the event into a cultural celebration that honored the art of writing and Albanian heritage.
Over two vibrant days, more than 750 titles from Albania were showcased to readers, offering a unique opportunity to enjoy Albanian books without the need to pack suitcases during trips to the homeland. Various authors had the honor of presenting their works, including those who live and create outside Albania.
Participants hailed the festival as a noble initiative that contributes to preserving and promoting Albanian language and culture within the diaspora. The lead organizer, Rudin Dakli, along with a dedicated team, ensured the event was an undeniable success and a model for establishing an annual tradition.
“We are used to saying that the flag unites us, but this time it was the art of writing that brought us together,” shared one of the attendees, summing up the emotions surrounding this significant cultural event.
The Albanian Book Festival in Toronto marks a significant step forward in strengthening Albanian identity through reading and writing, creating a strong bridge between the diaspora and the homeland. Warm thanks go out to everyone who contributed to making this extraordinary event possible!
