What inspires you the most in your profession, and how have you achieved success in this field?

Ever since I was a young girl, I wanted to be a dentist, an orthodontist to be specific.  Dentistry was something that had always fascinated me. This does not mean that I wasn’t terrified to go to the dentist! Sure, I was, but I also found it very interesting.  I used to say that when I became a dentist, I would help all the people who were scared like me, to actually look forward to their dental appointments.  My first dental appointment was at 7 years old, I remember the dentist, the nurse and my mom holding me down because I was so terrified.  That scarred me for life!  My next dental appointment was when I was 19 years old and I only went because I was in extreme pain.  Dentistry has changed since then thankfully.  I now see kids looking forward to their dental appointments, adults as well.

I specialize in seeing nervous patients that do not like going to the dentist. Our warm environment and techniques make them more comfortable.  It is an amazing feeling when patients come in and tell me they look forward to their appointments.  This is how I see my contribution to the world. And I am proud that we make a significant difference in the lives and experiences of our patients.

The passion I have for the field has helped me achieve the success.  I love what I do and that can be transmitted easily to the people.

How do you connect the field of dentistry with business? What are the challenges and advantages of this connection?

Every profession is a business at the end of the day, even though a lot of people do not want to admit it.  The business has to make money to move forward as things have to get paid.  There are some challenges for sure as some patients when you suggest a treatment and as we know the dental treatments are not cheap, they think we are just trying to make money.  Building trust with the patients is very important so they trust what you are suggesting.

Velscope: The velscope system is a powerful, fluorescence-based device that enhances the visualization of oral mucosal that dentists use to detect early forms of cancer and disease in the mouth during oral cancer screening.

Digital X-rays: is a process that helps produce images of your mouth and teeth instantly and is stored on a computer. Digital x-rays are less harmful than traditional x-rays as it contains up to 90% less radiation.

Dental Implants—Dental implants are screw-replacements for the root portion of missing teeth. Implants are used to restore healthy smiles when patients have missing teeth. Implants are effective because they can replace missing teeth, while still giving the patient the feel and look of a natural tooth.

Dental Milling Machine

The program automatically operates and processes prosthetics such as fillings, dental veneers, and dental crowns to replace missing or damaged teeth.

I am opened to new technology and I use them as much as I can.  The new technology helps dentistry to be better, less painful and more efficient.

I want people to know how important oral health is.  Taking care of your teeth is a lot more affordable now days.

I feel it is crucial to promote oral health to the public and constantly create awareness. In my field we meet many clients who lack knowledge about their oral health and come in only when they have a dental emergency. I have seen children whose parents have never been educated on proper care for each stage of a child’s life starting from early stages of infancy to young adult hood.  I am passionate about helping and educating all walk of life and strive to changes peoples minds about dentistry in the sense it should be part of your yearly overall health check ups.

Good oral health helps you enjoy life. It lets you: speak clearly; taste, chew, and swallow delicious and nutritious foods; and show your feelings through facial expressions such as smiling.

Do you have any advice for those who aspire to pursue a career in dentistry and build a successful business?

I want to tell everyone that they have to love what they do and work very hard at everything they do.

One thing is certain; Dentistry is not everyone. My advice is to volunteer at a dental practice and figure out if dentistry if right for you. You must love and believe in what you do to make your career worthwhile. Work very hard at everything you do, always be ready to learn new technologies and techniques, continue to educate your self. Take chances and risks, although we live in one of the most technologically, medically, and scientifically advanced societies, we clearly still have much work to do if we are to live up to our full potential.

In closing, I want to express my commitment to providing exceptional dental care tailored to each patient’s unique needs. It’s been a pleasure discussing our approach to oral health, and I look forward to serving and supporting our community for years to come.
