Arta Rexhepi Launches Foundation to Unite Art, Humanism, and Albanian Heritage in Canada
Canada – Drawing from deep artistic roots and a lifelong commitment to culture, journalist and community advocate Arta Rexhepi, daughter of renowned Canadian-Albanian artist Zeqirja Rexhepi, has announced the creation of her foundation—an initiative designed to unite art, the humanities, and cultural heritage in projects with lasting social impact.
Coming from a family that has significantly contributed to Albanian culture and the arts, Rexhepi shares this creative legacy with her sister, Tringa Rexhepi, a celebrated actress and singer. Over her career as a journalist in Canada, Arta has spotlighted human stories, social issues, and given voice to matters of public importance, earning respect for her dedication and integrity.
A Strong and Dedicated Board
The Foundation is guided by a dynamic board of directors made up of accomplished women from diverse fields:
- Venesa Sulimani – Human rights activist and daughter of a survivor.
- Ilirjana Latifi – President of the Albanian Association “Kosova” in Montreal, known for her devotion to the Albanian diaspora.
- Shkendije Ibishi – Author recognized for her sensitive and authentic storytelling.
- Arnisa Morina – Toronto-based lawyer committed to legal and social advocacy.
- Blerina Ruka – Editor and founder of Albanian Montreal Press, a prominent voice in the Canadian-Albanian community.
Mission and Vision
The Foundation’s mission is to develop cultural, artistic, and humanitarian initiatives that empower communities, preserve national identity, and promote universal values of justice, creativity, and solidarity.
“This is a step I feel as both a moral obligation and a spiritual passion,” said Arta Rexhepi. “I am grateful to be surrounded by extraordinary women who share this vision.”
Through this initiative, Rexhepi not only brings her personal commitment but also issues a strong call for collective action and collaboration. The Foundation aspires to become a reference point for art, culture, and humanism—building a brighter future for the Albanian diaspora and society at large.
